Limon’s 68th Annual Homecoming September 19, 20, & 21, 2013
The officers of the Limon Alumni Association would like to invite all of the visiting alumni back to their hometown of Limon for the 2013 Limon Homecoming Festivities! Come renew old friendships and see your hometown. The Limon Heritage Museum will be opening after the parade and will stay open through the afternoon, so be sure to visit.
To kick off the activities, on Thursday, Sept. 19, the Lady Badger Softball Team will be playing the Yuma Indians at 4:30 p.m. at the Limon Softball fields south of town on Hwy. 71, south of the golf course. The next day, Friday, Sept. 20, the Lady Badger Volleyball Team will be playing the Deer Trail Eagles at 5 p.m. in the Christenson/Newsom Activities Building. That night, the traditional Limon Homecoming Bon Fire will start around dusk, north of Gaskill Field on G Avenue when the snake dance arrives from the school.
On Saturday, Sept. 21, Plains Medical Center will be serving a pancake breakfast prior to the parade at the corner of E Avenue and Main Street from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Homecoming Parade will begin at 10 a.m., will start at the school and proceed down E Avenue to the Limon downtown. There will be a community barbecue and lunch following the parade, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Pulled-beef sandwiches (with sauces), baked beans, coleslaw, dessert, and cold drinks will be served. This is a great time for visiting with old friends as well as to tour the school campus to see what has changed since your last visit. Tickets will be $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. No advance purchase is necessary. The Homecoming Football game will take place at 2 p.m. at Gaskill Field, where the Limon Badgers will take on the Burlington Cougars. Homecoming Royalty will be crowned at half time and parade judging will be announced.
We hope every honored class will have an entry in the Homecoming Parade. The theme will be: “Music Through the Times”. Entries need to line up at the school by 9 a.m. for judging. Honored Classes this year are 1928, ’33, ’38, ’43 ’48, ’53, ’58, ’63, ’68, ’73, ’78, ’83, ’88, ’93, ’98, 2003, ‘08, and ’13.
