PMC Merger Complete

Peak Vista Community Health Centers (PVCHC) has finalized a merger with Plains Medical Center (PMC), a fellow Community Health Center that serves the East Central region of Colorado, including Limon.

PVCHC and PMC announced the merger in early December and have since worked on due diligence needed for an official merge.

“There are many complicated details involved in merging two effective organizations,” said Pam McManus, PVCHC’s President and CEO. “We’re very pleased with the progression and feel it is truly due to the strong commitment of both organizations to provide quality healthcare in the rural communities of East Central Colorado.”

Peak Vista’s 2013 patient roster numbered 70,550 and PMC served 9,560 last year. PMC’s staff of 66 will join Peak Vista’s 626 employees. The addition of PMC’s clinics will bring the number of health centers that Peak Vista operates to 25, spread across 19 locations in El Paso, Teller, Lincoln, Adams, Arapahoe, Elbert and Kit Carson counties.

Three of PMC’s Board of Directors will join the board at Peak Vista.

“The main focus is to ensure that patients continue to get exceptional health care in a local setting,” said Vicki Jo Moore, exiting Vice Chair of the PMC board. “This merger will provide helpful support systems that mean our existing patients will continue to have access to great medical, dental and behavioral care in their own communities.”

Peak Vista anticipates that the merger process will continue for some time. “There’s more work to be done,” said Kandi Buckland, Peak Vista’s chief operating officer. “As we work through the operational side of the merger, the goal is to deliver a seamless transition to our patients while simultaneously orientating staff to the new Peak Vista.”

Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to provide exceptional healthcare for people facing access barriers.” Established in 1971, Peak Vista now offers primary medical, dental, and behavioral health services to more than 80,000 patients annually in the Pikes Peak region and the East Central plains.
