MICHEL (MIKE) J. NEWCOMB

Michel (Mike) J. Newcomb was taken from us suddenly on November 26, 2022 in Spokane, Wash. where he lived. Mike was the third child of five of Herman and Helen (Shimek) Newcomb. He was born in Sterling, Colo. on December 15, 1952. Mike attended school in Limon and graduated in 1971. He went on to get his Associates degree in 1983 at Mission College and then his Bachelor degree in 2004 at Eastern Washington University. He worked in the technology field for over 25 years. He worked in Lexington, Neb. for Reach before joining the U.S. Navy in 1976. Mike served as a Fire Control Tech aboard the USS Chicago CG-11, and the USS Bainbridge CG (N) 25. He received an honorable discharge after 6 years of service. Mike then moved back to Colorado Springs where he worked for TRW. When TRW outsourced their product, he moved to Santa Clara, Calif. to work for Avantek. Mike worked in Spokane for Hewlett Packard until retirement. After retiring he continued to work part-time helping people at the Work Source department in Spokane, Wash. Mike enjoyed watching hot air balloons, doing puzzles, taking pictures and reading. He collected fire trucks, stamps and coins. Mike made friends wherever he went and was easy to talk to. He was interested in all kinds of new things and was always ready to learn something new or try something different. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Helen Newcomb, his brother Morris Newcomb and his sister Ramona Hanson. He is survived by Marty, Gloria Newcomb and Marianne, Ray Johnson, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins and lots of friends and classmates.
