Jimmie Glenn Hilton was born on July 13, 1950 in La Junta, Colorado to Max Eugene and Beverly Joan Phillips Hilton. Jim graduated from La Junta High School and entered the US Military, serving in Vietnam. Upon his return from his service to our country, Jim went to work at the Colorado Boys Ranch. This would be the beginning of a lifetime of caring for others.
Jim married Wanda “Wendy” Marie Sorensen and they had two children; Erik and Amy. Jim and Wendy operated the Karval store for a period of time and worked for several extended care facilities.
Jim was a man who understood the importance of investing in the lives of young people. He followed and supported young people’s various activities from many different communities. He could tell you their stats, and all of their individual accomplishments on the court, on the field, or in the livestock ring. He cared about others.
The last 20 years, Jim became the primary caregiver for his host home son; Norman Pfost. Jim’s heart was one of complete selflessness and genuine concern for others.
Jim was taken home to heaven on December 17, 2024 at the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo. He was preceded in death by his wife Wendy and by his parents; Max and Beverly.
Jim is survived by his children: Erik (Rebekah) Hilton of Mesa, AZ and Amy (Jeff) Lee of Montrose, CO, his host home son: Norman Pfost, his grandsons: Joshua and Aaron Hilton, Cole and Brett Lee, his granddaughters: Shelbi and Brooklyn Lee, one sister; Macky (Wally) Valdez and one brother; Ken Hilton.
