TIMOTHY JAMES PALFY SR

Timothy James Palfy Sr. was born September 5, 1953 to Michael and Louise (Negretti) Palfy and entered into eternity on May 30, 2023.  

Tim was the third of four sons and grew up in Denver, Colo. with brothers George, Mike and John.  He was also very close to his many cousins.  Tim graduated from North High School, after graduation Tim took the year off.

Tim enlisted with the U.S. Army at the age of 19 and served in the Vietnam War.  He loved his country and was always very proud of his military service.  Tim took special pride in his nephew Chaske Palfy who also later served in the Army.  Following his time of service, Tim returned to Denver and was a steel worker with his brother Mike.

Tim married Shirley Laflan in 1976, and they were blessed with son Matthew Traves and daughter Nicole Louann.  Tim and Shirley divorced in 1980. Tim married Georgia Morris in 1981 and they were blessed with daughters Frances Anne (Cole), Joslynn Ranee (Ortiz), Rachel Marie, Gabriella Rose (Davis), and son Timothy James Jr.  Tim and Georgia moved to Arriba, Colo. in 1984 due to a desire to raise their family in a smaller community.  Tim and Georgia divorced in 2002; however, Tim would remain in Arriba for the rest of his life.  

Tim greatly valued friendships and his ties to the community members in Arriba and Lincoln County.  He especially appreciated the relationships he had with Mike Miller, Balyn Brent, Tom Rush, Earl Saffer, Larry Ketzel, Curt Price, and many others.  

Tim was closest to his daughter Joslynn, her husband Jesus, and their two kids Maria Luisa and Jose. The Ortiz family was a great source of comfort to him through his years.  

Tim was involved in various organizations throughout his life including the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Golden Wheat 4-H, Lincoln County Fair Junior Livestock auction, and Bethel Church.  He was an avid hunter for several years and enjoyed big game hunting in the Colorado mountains.  Tim also loved to have family and friends from Denver visit his home for antelope and other small game hunting.

Tim is survived by brothers George and John, all of his children, two of his son-in-laws, one daughter-in-law, and grandkids Maria Luisa Ortiz, Jose Ortiz, Brayden Cole, Dominic Cole, Evan Cole, Tessa Cole, Raeann Palfy, Kaylee Waugh, Junior Torres, Ashtyn Davis, Lula Belle Davis and Lucia Davis. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and other extended family members.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Arriba, Colorado 80804. Inurnment at Arriba Cemetery.
