Derrell Junior Jaques was born March 10, 1930 at Shaw, Colorado and passed away at his home in Limon, Colorado on October 19, 2024 at the age of 94.
Derrell was the sixth child to be born to the family of 10 children to Lula and Peoble Jaques, seven boys and three girls. He began school at Bovina, Colorado and after the school closed he was transferred to Genoa, Colorado.
On June 8, 1957 he married Mary Parkhurst of Lander Wyoming. They became parents of four children; three sons Ronald, Terry and Timothy; and one daughter Lori.
Derrell worked numerous jobs after marriage to include farming and ranching, building construction and the railroad. In 1964 he worked for Lincoln County on the Road and Bridge crew for approximately 10 years before purchasing a family farm and ranch in 1973. Derrell and his family continued to operate the family farm and ranch until they moved to Limon in April of 2023.
Derrell was baptized at the Arriba Christian Church on March 12, 1961. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one son Timothy, two sisters, Mareland and Georgia, and six brothers, Williford, Wilburn, Merrell, Charles, Darrold and Dale. Derrell is survived by his wife Mary, sister Lorrain Cash, sons Ronald and Susan, Terry and Carol, daughter Lori Larson, seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
