Joyce Marie Storey

Joyce Marie Storey, 68, of Brush, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, CO. Joyce was born February 1, 1955, in Limon, CO to Clifford and Amelia Deeds.

Joyce graduated from Genoa High School. On May 17, 1973, she married Veryl “Butch” Storey Jr.

Joyce was a waitress for many years in Colorado and Kansas. She and Butch had many businesses together, including dog breeding, managing the sale of coupon booklets, and running a Wonder Bread franchise.

When Butch passed, she relocated to Weldona, CO. She and Leo Hilton, of Kansas, lived in Weldona, where Leo worked for the Fort Morgan Reservoir and Irrigation Company for around 15 years. Joyce worked at several restaurants in the area before retiring. Leo passed away in November of 2021.

Joyce was a very friendly, social person. Her personality was light-hearted and bubbly. She showed her compassion for people in many ways. She was a good listener and encouraged and supported her family and friends. Her relationship with Jesus was a very important to her. She watched many inspirational shows and listened to gospel music regularly. Her favorite was Alan Jackson’s Precious Moments Collection CD.

She is survived by her much-loved nieces and nephews, and her beloved late husband’s family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn Oster, and Elaine Deeds; husband, Butch Storey; and life partner, Leo Hilton.

Funeral services were held at Heer Mortuary in Brush, Saturday, January 13, at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon followed at the Brush Fire Hall, 1220 Edison Street. Burial was at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Cemetery in Lincoln County.
