Lawrence Gerald (Jerry) Johnson died of natural causes on the morning of July 2, 2024 at his home in Fallon, Nevada.
Jerry was the youngest of 10 children born in Denver, Colorado to Minnie and James Johnson of Hugo on June 18, 1948. He grew up, attended school and married in Hugo.
He co-owned and operated the Main Automotive auto-parts store and machine shop at the corner of Main Street and E Avenue in Limon. The shop later moved East on Main Street to a new building which now includes NAPA auto parts.
He and his wife Dorothy (Nicholson) Johnson had two children: Edward and Donna Johnson.
Jerry was an engine builder, race car driver, shooting sports enthusiast, hunter and friend to many in Limon and the surrounding area. He divorced in 1974 and then married Donna Goodwin in 1976. They then moved with Donna’s children to Page, Arizona where he worked at the Salt River Power plant as a machinist/millwright until 1983.
They moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1983 and stayed in Alaska until 2006 when they retired to Fallon, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna and his adopted son, Richard, his parents and all nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son Edward Johnson of Limon, daughter Donna Borden (Johnson) of Parker, Colorado and step daughters Jackie Eliason of Flagstaff, Arizona, Jerrilee Beckett of Page, Arizona and Janine Beckett of Beeville, Texas.
The family will have a private remembrance at a later date.
