Michael David Lohmeier was born on March 21, 1950 to Gerald G. and Rosalia I. Lohmeier.
Mike's life was taken on November 4, 2023 when he was fatally shot while sitting in his car after walking the bike path near the Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree in a random act of violence.
On October 24, 2024, the person who shot Mike received a sentence of second-degree murder and will serve 60 years in the Department of Corrections through a plea deal.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Rosie. Mike is survived by his five siblings, Pat(Barb) Lohmeier, Pam (Bob) Kahanic, Marilyn (Ron) Lohmeier-Howland, Gwen (Jeff) Huddy and Margie (Craig) Wilson. He is also survived by his twin sons, Eric and Aaron(Josh) Lohmeier.
Mike was a kind, caring, loving and very funny man. Mike was an all-around athlete and was selected to be a part of the 1967 Allstate Football team as a Quarterback from the Class A Champion Badgers. He was a musician as a drummer in the band at Limon High School where he graduated in 1968. He was talented photographer, excellent pool player and taught himself how to play the guitar. He excelled at all three! Mike worked many years for the Denver Public School system where he retired. He was still working part time for DPS at the time of his death.
He loved his family and especially his sons who he adopted as toddlers from South Korea. We want to thank everyone for their support this past year while we went through many hearings leading up the closure in this case. The final arraignment and sentencing on October 24th happened quickly, but we still had around 40 who attended to support us and Mike.
Remember: You can literally be here today and gone tomorrow. Be grateful, be humble, be appreciative, be kind, be loving.
