ROSANN (ROSIE) SAFRANEK

Rosann (Rosie) Safranek, age 90, passed away June 24, 2024, in Limon, Colorado.

Born March 23, 1934, in Great Bend, Kansas, she was one of eight children of William J. and Catherine (Befort) Welsh. She graduated in 1956 from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.

She met her husband, Frank J. Safranek of Limon, Colorado, through her oldest brother, Jim (Frank and Jim had been close friends since high school). Frank and Rosann married on February 11, 1958, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, Kansas. They started their home in Lincoln County and soon settled permanently in Limon. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1986.

Rosann spent her adult life as a homemaker and beloved mother to her and Frank’s two children. She was a paralegal for her husband at Safranek and Safranek, the law practice established by Frank and his brother Robert. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She loved to play bridge, play golf, read a good book, watch mysteries and football on TV, and gather with family and friends.

Rosann was predeceased by siblings James C. Welsh, William J. Welsh, and Mary Frances Smith. Survivors include her son Frank W. (Escondido, CA) and her daughter Catherine (Cate) and son-in-law Nick Dapron (Santee, CA). She is survived by siblings Terry Welsh (Madeline), Santa Rosa, CA; Tom Welsh (Gayle), Estero, FL; and Kevin Welsh (Polly), Overland Park, KS; Ellen Safranek (Robert), Limon, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Angela Safranek (John Baumchen), Canon City, CO; Carolyn Katz (Howard), Winnetka, IL; Elizabeth Karnezis (Michael), Chicago, IL; and Robert Safranek (Melody), Limon, CO. Rosann had one grandchild, Emily (daughter of Frank W. and Teri Nissen). Emily and her husband Jerad Buckwalter gave “Grandma Rose” one great-grandchild: their son Conner.

A private interment will be held at Pershing Memorial Cemetery, Limon, CO.
